Discover Ica: Sun, Dunes And Vineyards

Just a few hours from the city of Lima, capital of Peru, a region with magnificent places and experiences awaits you: Ica, where you will enjoy the perfect combination of fun and relaxation.

Huacachina

Surrounded by desert pampas, fertile valleys and enviable beaches, Ica offers the traveler unstoppable landscapes such as the oasis of Huacachina, which is characterized by the emerald green color of its waters, lined with beautiful vegetation. Enjoying a sunset on the banks of the lagoon, in the middle of a natural refuge, will be one of the best moments of your trip.

Also, this region is the ideal destination for adventure lovers. Among its desert pampas, is one of the highest dunes in the world: the imposing Cerro Blanco, located in the Nasca Valley, perfect location for sandboarding.

Hundreds of travelers come together to glide over the sands and descend at full speed, living adrenaline emotions and unique moments.

Nasca’s lines

However, Ica is also known for the mysteries it protects and that can only be observed from the heights: the enigmatic Nasca Lines. The geoglyphs still un-deciphered by current science harbor secrets of civilizations that lived in these valleys in ancient times.

There are about 15 figures that travelers can observe from the air, a small part, from a metal viewpoint located on the road; while the vast majority is only visible when flying over the area with a plane, an experience that must be done at least once in a lifetime.

Paracas National Reserve

This region also has among its most important natural attractions the Ballestas Islands, located in front of the Paracas National Reserve. It is in this area where you can see part of the biodiversity that Peru has. Daily boat trips are made and visitors can observe species of marine fauna such as large colonies of sea lions, Humboldt penguins, seabirds and guaneras.

Wineries, vineyards and gastronomy

On the other hand, also known as the city of the eternal sun, it is the headquarters of the oldest wine cellar in South America: Tacama, where high quality wines and pisco are made. Strolling through its vineyards and learning about the distillation and elaboration process of the Peruvian flag drink is a mandatory visit.

Finally, it is impossible to talk about a Peruvian region and not mention its cuisine. The Ica region stands out for its spicy pallares, delicious stew made from green Ocucaje pallares with yellow pepper, milk and cheese. Another delicacy of Iqueñan cuisine is carapulcra with dry soup, typical of the province of Chincha.

In addition, we can not fail to mention the chocotejas and the strained beans, exquisite desserts that conquer palates.

Definitely, Ica has a lot to offer, from beaches that will leave you open mouth like the Mine to an impressive Canyon that surprises more than one. Dare to discover a region that promises thousands of emotions and incredible flavors.
